Yesterday, I sat down and made this.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 250px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimCU0Eea9ORVHJCB_bO75VxjYeou1b09I-BDDQkkRaicOU4qKhsuSRjXb_F-de0gb6MxSTP9Nj_4MjX-5PcEtU_vbnJ9u5s8s7vI8aZHnwxe1FqDPmXGrQKmJWpEWnAEGShTIOQVJmMHc/s320/6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770301138996648450" />
As with all my stuff, it's really easy to make and all you'll need is some mountboard or strong cardstock, papers and or paint and your normal tools.

You need to decide how big you want your unit and the main thing to consider is how many ink pads in a row. If making this for distress ink pads like mine, I wouldn't suggest more than 3 or your shelves may bend in the middle. You may decorate it before it's all put together or afterwards. I painted my shelves before decorating the outside to allow for any necessary trimming and then papered it when it was all together.

1. First get yourself a bit of mountboard and keep this for the back.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 279px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4g3q_GPo8vUO7WGf8y8hrmQUYoWjj0x5nEqUwc1yR9Z7RzUZdEsZarrNOWddx0FYmDfC0Yk8L5HpiX96BU65MXcPXPkPhl3_qOzJKqD40aRgtCkTtfgF0c-QL7LB5POC_fIo8EL3QAAQ/s320/1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770302972134080658" />
You will also need a top, a base, two sides and your shelves.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 297px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVSk9EjL7OpbFkUkWCBfgnkg5TcyV444zCCqiHqQ5xWiqxQ4d4FC0Cq4Jxj1NrHLgbTVBdAtsGiC9PRZRgVX0rJrIKkKHRdh4uXX-KYoNf4yZ_4pbimmwtdaJtjcR-OE7nm57pmMkkf7o/s320/2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770303265895671778" />

MEASUREMENTS:
If you use inkpads other than distress inkpads then you will have to work out your own measurements (easy enough) but all I can do is give you the measurements for 33 distress ink pads. Cut enough shelves for whatever amount of inkpads you'll be using.
Sides: 255mm x 80mm
Top & Base: 248mm x 80mm
Back: 310mm x 248mm
Shelves: 280mm x 65mm.

2. Put your shelves together first. Take each shelf and score at 2cm from each end. Be very careful here if using mountboard - you want to be able to fold without breaking through. Fold over each of the ends and attach the first shelf level with the bottom of the sides. The shelves are not as deep as the sides, thereby allowing easy access to grab the ink pads, so make sure to glue them leaving the extra space at the FRONT of the sides.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 265px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSbp7h6GZqO2zWvGIy3yg7-UoY7-CB_paPvqY7sWjIFsQbAmklUpRBVCjHkD9rfp62vBZitFu5MKn3EoILDaR_kZF8ibGK9qmt9yJ0nGZY6BraO-CgKWiYh0LNC-C0AWlvAxH8FS6JK0Q/s320/3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770312540323899762" />
Each of the folded ends should touch the top of the previous shelf.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqApHnuq0UpKeq1slX50ZSMznAB0c9MgtF4_Ad2CfMmWEbDb_3uhPsHvJWN2s4JnD6viuizz1_iA53OaRZG0dsx6u_U4y6h4zo-rW-aUd_8o1p6eEImtk3UxdqXPRo3gfxIumWWFXck00/s320/4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770312857340029506" />
Continue until all your shelves are in place.

3. Attach your base and top by putting strong glue along the top and bottom edges of the sides and holding in place until it grabs. I use good old packing tape for extra hold too.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 241px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7_jR6tc81-zexsW1X8QNmFLsjGP2KEoUTIWf_MrAlJLG_dHeLZZI_pUyhYSx9C9y05FIKGhVMKlYt07NpaybUi-TT07KAE_14SxCo-AL9esdnna1OxMDT6Jz60BRqBEcijI37VWDHnoA/s320/5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770316372537316786" />

4. Run a small amount of glue along the back edge of each shelf and also along the edges of the top, bottom and sides and then press your back into place. You can use more tape to help you hold it in place. When it's dry, stick your papers in place.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 250px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLF5PD-vxW6ldOc4CrC0zkLliL1zjllJnL8AWZ3oFL_zRw8nVFrsW7OjFHhshMdtQjVO1UiZFc4-wEVAfvjs5VhT7Dwu_jnsETi4rGyK0OROTIyZjyJiRpcYissa-tCzSG7IRvHIoRkO4/s320/6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770317188681987906" />
Add any other decoration that you wish.
To decorate my flourish, I painted it with Wedgewood Blue acrylic paint to match my shelves, brushed a thin coat of picket fence crackle paint on in a few places. When dry, I inked with brushed corduroy and then put a medium coat of clear crackle paint on.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0UUTpWuWRLn-qRSp7FiBDqkki-2GY_xLC5AGZvghCSE8QHXp8ZEoTzlN6zBnxbZxiCvXNgeyMQOs-rrsJ6OMzPZJL3r20BLqlBp39k5NXoJhYAvgf05zdxj-e2Lc7AO4EsJ0Z1Hsgrms/s320/8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770317392781859842" />
Finally, print off some labels, stick on and put your pads into your shelving unit.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 252px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJd5qNNFnBNlYlukHcGTfDU1mH0RZbOdvaf5ZhXf6uFPuAhDx-hMOr3jFHOyKZbBzaMCQKLvl-VS3LWE7_aUvbSuuDV2BdApLTJzVEuS1Gs-NY7TZXPlrrZyPCmLFAhcEWAsGHaXD9KdQ/s320/7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5770318321401919362" />
There you are..simple eh? So, like I did with my Promarker Storage Tower I sat down and had a think. I had lots of mountboard and this is what I came up with. I decided that I wanted two levels and separate compartments too. It is JUST a box and nothing special, but you may want to make one for yourselves. My box is quite large at 14" x 10" but obviously you can make your box any size you want. Next time, it won't be larger than 12 inches, then I won't have to join the papers!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 307px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGAqFhrVWeP5rGf4HMNg6lfymqdG5FMdBYhk3VDcCC1f24i7nNPqlQOTmU0xsS2IxqYEUafpbQH_tzgnO6KoMcudN54_74ZvPmuLtz0To3aILQfi5ZQFqgz9baeMXtH-f9Eei8H1Unfyk/s320/21.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719135420041257378" />
Get out some of your stash and decide how big you want your box. If you want compartments, make sure one at least is big enough to take your largest item. Get out your mountboard or very strong card too.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 220px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjys5W3ZRCRqaiYGx0opqBAQxd9lDIPP-06HXekK-Ika-oom53u496Wvoi9vd3Vlk63TI9wHi2SejuE2IuelBV5xJtGu8hiw57CFzB0nTZp_vIAkxGqUU_orr7OIlshE0Q2aQqZSYcq9M/s320/1+Start+image.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719136565644007426" />
Step 1.
When you've decided on the size of your box cut the base to this size. Decide how deep you want your box and cut 4 pieces of board the same length as each side and the depth you want.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSwwnEuWZEaZuGY61zMMOmCRnN4EFsBrlFGl6Iqh09PP_26QRzS0Vuvp-GbKvDdEksFijGk27PKL2s3qg7ucjKJjppMcO4U2biTrEc9qzTxUMNGkiCdv2XC5Y9C2qQO9ay5I_RrbOnVVs/s320/2+Step+1a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719137610197458418" />
Step 1a.
Do the same for the lid except that your side pieces will be much smaller in depth than the main box and the main piece will be just a little larger than your base to allow it to fit on.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 241px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4-lTmprTt9ga-S6yWG00iXUuMBpLC-KwN2uUgqa6Lz7ghuFXidRwsxOvooWR0Yam10Tb7rc5Z7h-hn9qXlqFRY7021BSpj6AuKyuvHGTdRVgAG4H6sdCPmcJoVBuCiwwTeoPsVK9uTuA/s320/3+Step+1B.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719138382865618850" />
Step 2.
Now, decide how many compartments you want on the base. Mine has 4, so I needed two strips of mountboard. The strips are the same length and width as the base. For the depth (if you want a second shelf) make sure that your separators are no deeper than half the depth of the sides. Where your slots are cut will depend on the size of your box and how big you want your compartments. Each slot is cut to half the height of the separator and then, just slotted together.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 170px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifPVJFDJ0YZuD9O_Yzuc1VQlgHCw7EjLhLP0XcDhnB-j6n2ncjfcOlLm6ActkCkArBW-dV0jaswRoAUiUmpcQFJVs3EgwyqmveQ14TrZOAuUItKawmgdynEPumrDeaQKXoT_JaNkZrVug/s320/4+Step+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719140025332865010" />
Step 2a.
Make sure that your separators are no longer than your base board.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 186px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX2anoIt2uPJCaHSYz8R_R8Rs5J_xfHmSZdJZ5o48PEDv6QwMngwWYg-GYHAM2xaYO3ef_lWa-vYGGNbvHJ4bO3B42Djrjz7XBcw8HhJ_n_wZjB81P5FmWcFJ6ARHa5qN5SCzWzKx1lbc/s320/5+Step+2a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719140927326289026" />
Step 3.
If you're making a top tray you need to cut another base, this time make it a little smaller than your main box base then cut some sides and some separators. I decided to paint my separators with a deep burgundy acrylic paint. When you have them all covered, protect each piece with a coat or two of mod podge or other sealant. This will not only enhance the colours of the inks and papers but it will also make the box more durable. Patience now while it dries completely. Don't worry if your paper bubbles slightly when the sealant goes on, as it dries, it will shrink back. Do the same for your tray. Cover only the inside and the separators. At this stage, I hadn't touched my lid as I was still deciding what I wanted.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 249px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkLHWjGgOdTz5QoxzqSBHU-QaC2L_pnLp6JkjXNBJ1QC05yI61q3y7jdQ8hTZ1yZeZTCkimrWBLYjbFFgBu6nDSU3vOeRRLex6ajf1ov2vp0wDm8sdNVwm1PDu5QZSfBw64uL7UFS9tpg/s320/11+Step+5a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719151824216378546" />
Step 5b.
Now you have the insides covered, sealed and dry, you're ready to start putting it all together.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 209px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4UMpoLEmg5Uh5xzzbBCA985KUwMZHXpz9CDlZqfeuC3Pe4tyc397JLDSeZNfPhdX_ACQF0F4gQ41GdD1WLHh-A7fLQyM4T_ZjbOx-edoHtLroEfhb0Moj15L_5Hm1Fe__FIiF2ElkZRc/s320/12+Step+5b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719152329671164946" />
Step 6.
It can get a bit fiddly now as there is not much support so you may have to hold some pieces in place for a while. Just take your time and be patient. Start with your box base. Take your separators and run a strong glue (I use Crafters Pick) along the bottom edges. Place these on the base and hold in place until the glue grabs. By putting the separators in first, you will have something to help hold the sides on.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1DORIncqllIBeb9-OMlqAEz_Fr9gI6prx2-ObuSI5cK35_tteoJM0CLC1uwPxNqfqC0jnIqi8LgtzZPEZJ4nvVy_XKnmuJnFHHAvqwJKhyma42qv1H_rEh8U5K6QZJqTlhsQOVrv5SMI/s320/13+Step+6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719153206871748466" />
Step 7.
Now, take one of the side pieces, run some glue along the inside bottom edge and some glue down the edge of the separator and push the pieces together. It will attach to the outside of the base, not on the top surface. You will definitely have to hold this piece in place and push in along the bottom so it grabs to the box base. When you attach the second side piece, you will need glue down the edge that will meet the already attached side and along the bottom, plus the edge of the next separator. You can stick a bit of sellotape around the corner to help hold it in place. Do this for all four sides. When you're happy that it is all stuck together well, leave it aside to dry properly.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 219px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCU-vzLMU8CiKZAp8WfuK_HfeaXrUUJt0JqHpsu7klCoQXRBBQch3ZKRJeKWM4HVL1Wz10M5X7Ev__UOEMClsHQ6Mw55x26tswQiOdM4NjoUZkKwB7fFEsBNA8fUFtjz4_Wn5apEtnBMQ/s320/14+Step+7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719154666308389186" />
Step 8.
To add extra strength to the box (and possibly stop the bottom falling out, lol), add some strong tape over all the joins.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 210px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFDTGIYP_m8S4Qa7D3BYtPWKnsTKbg8t0m3MomcFzx_XUw854XHBEyo4WAWNDKz6YrYG6wsxRhZyB_hoZQSzzqcK-gUYh5HU0aDNM3IR2EUIQMazeiFnLEV7gRPrlODaLIFCabpVyTb40/s320/15+Step+8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719155753301783730" />
Step 9.
Do your tray in exactly the same way. Ink the edges again and don't forget to apply your sealant then more patience while it dries completely. Always best to be left overnight.

I had by now decided that I wanted a hinged lid, so I only needed 3 of the sides that I'd cut. Are you keeping them in a box somewhere and rooting around for the colour you need? Well, so was I. I started looking around for storage for them and everything I found was either too expensive or didn't hold enough pens or both, so I sat down and thought of a way to make myself a storage tower for them. This is what I came up with.

It will cost you the price of some A4 cardstock and heavy card or mountboard, both of which you've probably already got. It's very easy to make, although it is time consuming, but have a go and I hope you like it.

Step 1. Using your score board, score down 1 inch on all four sides of your A4 card. Fold over and sharpen the creases with your bone folder.

Step 2. Cut into all four corners just down to where the creases cross to make the corner tabs.

Step 3. Stick a piece of strong card (your scrapbooking pizza boxes are good for this) into the centre of the card for added strength. You will also need a strip down each of the edges.

Step 4. Fold the tabs to the inside and stick down. This is your first box lid and will be the base one.

Step 5. Now, repeat the above, EXCEPT you only need a strengthener strip down one long edge.

Step 6. Again, repeat. This time though, cut off one of the long edges down the score line. This will give you a 3 sided box lid and you only need a strengthener in the centre.

You will need to make as many of these as you need for however many Promarkers you have. Each shelf will hold 16 Promarkers. I made 10 of each (the four sided and the 3 sided) and this will take the whole range of Promarkers with a few spaces spare. You will need an even number of each.

Step 7. Now, before you start building it up, take a 3 sided lid and put 16 Promarkers into it. Using a strip of paper the same length, mark off, using the PM’s as a guide, 16 sections. Put this template aside and don’t lose it. Also, and I suggest using the card that you normally colour on so you get an exact colour match, cut strips to fit the front edges of the boxes. I cut 10 of these.

Step 8. Now, start building your tower. Make sure you have the base lid at the bottom. Using sellotape, stick your boxes together. Also, MAKE SURE that the strengthened edge of the four sided pieces is at the FRONT and the strengtheners on the 3 sided bits are at the top. After the 4 sided base, use a 3 sided lid and keep building like this. Be careful to match them up at the edges. The sellotape will keep them in place temporarily. Plan how tall you want your tower. If you have a long enough piece of mountboard or card to cover the whole sides in one go, build the tower in one piece. I did mine in two halves (10 each) and then put those together at the end, as I didn’t have any mountboard long enough.

Step 9. When your tower is stuck together, cut a piece of mountboard to fit each side and one for the top. Cover these in papers of your choice. I actually covered mine in one of my least favourite papers as I knew I’d never use it for anything else, so I may as well get some use out of it, lol.

Step 10. When your sides are covered, stick them with STRONG tape or glue onto the tower. Be extra careful that you have them all lined up evenly and that you put a ruler or something into the gaps from the inside to push up against the sides for extra adhesion. Remember, the box sides are fairly flimsy at this stage.

Step 11. When you have the sides on, join the two halves if you’ve worked this way, and finally add the top. I also covered the back with a piece of plain white card, just to tidy it up. Your tower is now basically finished.

If you want to make a fancy top like I did, then go ahead. Stick it along the front edge and bend two strips of card to stick at the back and support it.

Step 12. Now, take your strips of card and following the colour chart (which you can download from Letraset) and using the template you made earlier, mark the 16 sections on each one and colour them in with your pens. I also chose to print little labels onto Safmat and attached those after I’d coloured. Attach these to the front of your tower.

I printed labels for the whole colour range and have my spares stored in a little bag. As I get more pens, I shall colour the block and attach the label.

You will also need to cut and colour little circles for the end of the pens. I used my Robo to cut mine and they are 9mm diameter. The extra circles I cut are stored away too until more pens arrive. Stick them on the ends using Diamond Glaze or similar.

So, there you are. Promarker storage for pennies, well a couple of pounds for the cardstock, lol. I hope you like it.

Oh, there's a bit of luck. You can use plain and decorate as you choose, or, as I have done with my finished book, use a sheet of double sided cardstock. I used a Scor-Pal for my scoring, but you don't have to have one of these. The pockets in this book are large enough to hold ATC's or photo's of a similar size.

Step 1. Score your sheet at 6" then turn your card over and score at 2" from each edge. Follow the instructions in the Domino Book tutorial allowing for the different number of pages. (apologies for this naff pic).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 221px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcJuFUfjnDUqE63kyC_T1-ycizgshmPYqvA5gL7uFYAHTK5z97JbGZbyUJq9g3dEKmtqSkM8Mlfg3Cj7kh6g3b6865YsrLLUSxky9rMaMJcRh72Klcfc-vhq95FcoO2MfhYfPU_rizMMI/s320/stitched+bound.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367931346871600738" />
Secondly, you can use your Bind-it-All which works really well. A word of warning though. If you have the original blue machine, (I don't know about the new one) the book is too thick to punch in one go. Do the centre folds first and then making sure you're punching in the same direction, do the outside folds. You also, cannot turn the back round as per the usual instructions so your wire ends will still be on the outside. Twist them to the back and it looks absolutely fine.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 265px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSKE9O1pCE6YT_lqJyiFWm6L-HcRLjGJXpWQ-HS3_Gq5gzQ4RpLkqpuQnLxjlHv7DraKt42Zn4ZxoYliVvBsdrNOmghfsrU5px0BbQYW0syDxOoOGDp1yeLFQfl3_SOnOOs20mbAX3rvI/s320/bind+it+all.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367932370422912402" />
The third option, and my favourite, is to simply glue the open backs together so you have a solid little booklet with no openings at the back or the tops/bottoms of the pages. After I'd stuck my pages together I decorated the book with a few stamps, some understated embellies and glued a strip of ribbon right around the book for a fastening. I printed off 8 photographs of my granddaughter to go in the pockets and gave it to my daughter to carry in her handbag.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 250px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSrJx0UaG-c4p0YLetDYDUSfdCmzJvn6QSU6gG-j_3XLxeO9veAbClofxCTJO8XxLpyHhfrNRC1J6JvXIZXnjn8B7kvaf7Cv72ayPrPSp9YBE46YwToCPbkS17PekQQ6uxl65wNiRkBHY/s320/stuck+back+to+back.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367933684133491794" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinA7b6rkMfgIsb3ZQKkyB_wvUUxWgOZxPhUGOKqf7WTRcAxJQLi75PXGQfI7kpA50J8KxRv_JCksZ-qoZm0h0XavfaZUuP6t38tTxTSbNNKb7AOGFVzgh3lZ-8F4FD3eGEH4-CaCeFt1g/s320/complete.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367933859570936850" />
So there you are. You may have to experiment with your card as some work better than others.

1. Load up your cuttlebug as normal and using a sheet of waxed paper in your folder instead of card, emboss it. (you may need a shim to get a good impression).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 235px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZFT_6zHZCn0pHQpoxiIUd2r9k9vw6gQymngAMgvodFjWL2w-ozzA_ogjRXUmeRrUl8CyEpKlsl7Re2vCuPesfr1Ehct58L2IBJKT5OugBQBowoFaW5mN7d2JP96XVgmrwnMXDSYIPwfQ/s320/step+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366048018499090114" />
2. Heat a DRY iron to hot. If you have a steam iron, turn the steam off. Put the wax paper onto your chosen cardstock and cover with a sheet of scrap copy paper. Iron over this until you see the wax pattern appear on your scrap.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 244px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzsQX1ZpmEjBZW3fNf1a5FOaNlFqNnyTJm93NDTSzG2W4s8DqOVtkMeU2WvO0pEIG5TlzuTnjCym2l7WP4nwhAxvtDUko2PUvT8rjGqg0F1sCyAJZISINFLoYp8CpuE9-if6dy74-TZn8/s320/step+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366048482687497586" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 231px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhamDN87dhEVit4RN7m4iqq3xjyxC4SOShjIbXKdmS_ummeBxTXmiBf5vvO1MmMnidQVaCTQ76ftp4R89XORPMPxLTOiAIavuyh6snbdM36tChyphenhyphenAM8yqtQ5OFbOSZ1OyhIbkHiy80J1Jm0/s320/step+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366048653178971010" />
3. This tutorial uses waxy flax.

First of all, decide what size book you want to make and how many pages you want. This one is 6 x 6 which is easy to do, using 12 x 12 card. You can make the book any size you want though.

Step 1. Cut your card to the height you want and double the width. If using 12 x 12 card, just cut each sheet in half. Fold your card in half and using a bone folder, make a nice crease.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6VXjyRsHJCcdDK9GAmozv5X2h49i74FdesxtBxyom-1MXU2Gi0_ejwEKO60LzCysFUacMiTC6gzo0wo3Lqh91WBy30ZErpT7uQC2r369ao0f-8InzFO5_ySa2_6fL3mm3QxE5iU2cNCE/s320/Step+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361796713701611330" />
Step 2. Score your card ¼ inch each side of your main crease and fold along these score lines, again using your bone folder to crease them.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihGalyeoHbLFGXfZGDMGfRS9g09O7kMW0jrVif1x8ccyzDs7e107WSsWTzT0i5VcMRFPeqfomTVuaDv6j8_ij1GlQFTALtm2aKu9HKsKlk-SNeWliL3ShnObwCmKIAtApXZK3W0MbHqX4/s320/Step+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361797431323503218" />
Step 3. With each page folded in half along the centre crease, measure along in ½ inch increments and then cut down on each mark to the ¼ inch crease.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySZducFaBUt_H4nN70pQRVUtp2t8e7o2gOX9JdvsTri8Gs21nUaIJFnARZrfb1JW9OsYlIA0ZX0r9ChwyXqZlsR4tLYvD48uKkuuCkAW7ry4uP5hTrh27bv5E66yyGTEGrLh_DbLEyBE/s320/Step+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361798089476418066" />
Step 4. Now, holding your card, push every alternate section inwards. Now, take the first 2 pages and hold them firmly together. Take one of your skewers and thread it through the mountain tabs, doing one tab from each page alternately to the end of the page. Take your waxy flax and leaving a bit of an end, weave in and out and around the skewers, pushing each ‘row’ into place as you go. Weave a minimum of 4 rows, but 6 or 7 is better. You can see that a thinner cord is better for this. Finish weaving at the same skewer that you started with.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEa9POrkRsSGBNMRBzDQq-LfxCa5Xj8FxVPY6lTq2u0L0GhslUW4LJ7MECqNCqiqr_b70dRvp7-WnwpjP7omCIDGjnIPyRE2eBUAP2jMptLShLFqb4WLLq7M6OPDC08RLeCgjiHYMdmzo/s320/Step+7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361800991418932722" />
Step 8. When you have finished weaving, tie your ends into a tight knot (I use a double reef knot). You may want to cover the knot and/or the weaving with a clear glue to make sure it’s secure. Cut and trim your skewers to leave approximately ¾ to 1 inch at each end. If you’re absolutely sure of your finished size of book and weaving, you may cut your skewers to size before you start.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwK_b4vSX9Cc073wn2c_4iQCzh6NtL2nuAc0cB_zZhkp4eRiJ96_uxeccD0tCJTtOsUVYYONEz37uhnBaSieVPbfWl_Ies_79SzOfHtzCawmsaOP0wmp7sPVwKTtzG6O9tVOM_Uim9uY4/s320/Step+8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361801522369426466" />
Step 9. Now you can decorate your book in any way you please. No fancy pics this time, just basic diagrams but there is a picture of a finished book at the end of the tute.
You will decorate as you go but it's up to you how you do this.

Take a piece of A4 card and leaving the length, cut a strip 4 inches wide. I liked the way the cover folded over, but wanted something different. I altered the way the cover was made by cutting at the folds and adding spines which made the book wider and then I made a notebook to attach inside and a pocket on the right hand side. It was a gift for a racing friend of mine and had a years racing calendar printed out and put in the pockets and the notepad was for his betting notes.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 248px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC_fvAo-bJtR45d2zdAYXjZVjxFQA2DZpIAXyN-vbuQCKfNFGyrejB5TJk_dZ36lVydEBCFWt5RuIX8BTf1YN9MO7pwWM4_VNeuNgPlcg-xV4s1GSaN-qfNUZHztig0nRPeFcmLSgHYec/s320/Trevor's-Book-Web.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361402052337660690" />Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17864663688444912873noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4532212328895809175.post-83995480127347575452009-07-22T20:59:00.009+01:002009-07-22T21:33:49.325+01:00TRIANGULAR PAGE BOOKA bit different this one, but quite nice.
Take two pieces of mountboard or heavy cardstock sized 6 1/8th x 3 inches. Cover these with paper of your choice, but make sure the paper is large enough to fold inside. (I glued 2 bits of card together for each cover to make them stronger). Mitre your corners and stick it down.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 296px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOzGJ4cLpFmpxhOtvR3fJLRCE3Lvx3PSWjLmE2auY_dAVzR6P0oDIJCcq-kDjfjlqzMb1L_XWt2hsmditukdg3tmAvGclniHVK66ODjfoFG0U2pBlI3kjYObZgqE6GNlm4IpRkASnvzFU/s320/Step+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361377296026625442" />
Cut a piece of black paper (or colour of your choice) that is 8 x 2 inches. Take 8 or 10 pieces of 6 inch square paper. Fold 4 (5) of them in half, with the right sides together. Put aside.
Take the other 4 (5) and fold in half with the wrong sides together. Open these up and with the wrong side facing up, fold diagonally corner to corner, and then the other corner to corner. Make sure the creases are sharp and then push them together to give you triangle shapes with the folds inside.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuf-goGjlil1RUFrQW0mGnGB2k1kInW1CGEo9eXBbjrJJKd1euPKDzFuQwkhkdDjhu_NNFx6vzUX8cGUbcewCbLpHe03cTPYZK8IhX9bkCZtQQ-UV0filoCrhL87iZNFsaAzzBmmdQb24/s320/Step+4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361378840783752114" />
Open these out and decorate how you please. Stamp, or stick images, text, anything you like. Be careful if you choose anything bulky as it will interfere with the folds. (You can decorate them before you fold them, but if you use heat embossing, be careful it doesn't crack when you fold. By folding first, you can see exactly where you can place your deco's.)
When you have them decorated, fold them up again then attach and glue one each of the triangles into one each of the sheets that were folded right sides together. Make sure that you line the edges up carefully. When all the triangles are glued inside the pages, glue each of the pages together.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 188px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjegRNa2DX46dBk0bQmEQsF5pEVbcVKVgYH56RZVNPnnBm38jS0pS4nLg_Y7s4BnvrL_JyGUlw8LqVSTUa6h0I5GInHjJjYAZaeVkYGmiLkA6g59jtQlSb9GpMBfEGwPORU1YR65Em0RMk/s320/Step+5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361379246541662354" />
If you want to attach a fastening to your book, do this now. I opened mine flat and attached a cord right across the centre. Now, glue the pages to the front and back of the book. Place them centrally, but also make sure that the book closes.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 305px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLYhtmy0C_tgu_6IKnvCWi7bW1_1zerDKLvVIadWOBh4Pt1Nw0zkXaYzfv1yZQ80-tvPPdQGgB0URtr9TBWB6JeV-03ondBXg_HNwMbn2wZB6lxaFcNIjTDIE9kfO2twuZbfpH9RiNCqQ/s320/Step+6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361379599129304834" />
If you want to put any more embellishments on the covers, you can do that now. Flick them out with a piercer or scissor tips. CAREFULLY. (Step 1)
Drill a small hole in the side of the domino. Level it with the centre back line of the dom. (Step 2)
Decorate your doms. You can use inks, paints, papers…anything you choose. The domino in this tutorial was covered with alcohol inks (I use Pinata inks, they’re much more vibrant than Ranger) and then a paper image was stuck on, outlined with black gel pen and then the image was covered with Diamond Glaze. Stamping and heat embossing is another fave technique.
Make sure you cover both the back and the front of the dominoes. (Step 3) This is so you have a coloured edge when the pages are in. When you decorate your dominoes, make sure you have the holes on the correct sides or your design may end up upside down. (see pic – Step 4).
If you want you can colour around the edges of the domino. I usually use a Krylon pen but this one is done with a black peel off marker pen. Choose some brads that match your decoration and glue them into the holes. I use superglue to do this. Make sure that the brad IS NOT fully inserted. You need a little bit protruding to wrap your closure. (Steps 5 & 6).
Place the back cover domino face down with the brad on the right. Put some glue into the groove and stick a piece of fibre or thread of your choice in. Length about 6 – 7”. (Step 7). Leave to dry and start making your pages.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 232px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi89DyNvtRmJ94x05h4-Aq723DU8TsMDyCZ8QFVWf3aFrF7tLx_tZ-lh2z-O_jZz9AjE0FLZw6bl9xPntgmjwdoMlA2wh_NRgKKb0qdGzG491PsqVivNl7LqpcAVWaF2B6a6n3iXA6aBHI/s320/Domino-Tutorial-Steps-1---7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360848043833412562" />

PAGE PREPARATION
Your pages will be made up of 5 signatures. 1 signature consists of 3 pages.
Place 2 dominoes side by side and measure the width and length. Cut a piece of ordinary printer paper, slightly smaller so it fits within the doms. (Step 1A).
Cut 15 of these for your pages. Then, you need an extra one and also one on thin card. These two will be your template (paper) and cradle (card). Mark one corner of each of these with a T (for top). (Step 2A)
Fold each one in half and crease well. (Step 3A)
Cut a small piece of grosgrain or ribbon of your choice, slightly smaller than the width of your page. This will act as a support when binding your pages. (4A)
Take the cradle, put the template on it and the ribbon across the centre. With a sharp needle or paper piercer, pierce a hole either side of the ribbon and one midway (ish) between these holes and the edges. (5A) (I’ve marked mine with black pen so you can see).
Now, put one signature (3 pages, remember?) on the cradle and put the template on top of this and pierce right through all the holes. (6A) Do this with all 5 signatures and make sure your T is at the top. When you lay your sigs down, lay them down the same way.
Thread a needle with your chosen binding. I usually use embroidery thread separated into 3 strands. (7A)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNIy-ODRTfL6GxQuVnnGWPrkEGz7suIP3UxPQclY_Spo7ZdBEtAHUsOLhwQt7nbzPTMoERem006_mSEmIm-kDv9yr2ZajzQhZsFHs55TZpRtbbBbsftNAmDiD1vjFaBFekF2t2EJ2PluQ/s320/Domino-Tut-Steps-1A---7A.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360848353347883810" />

BINDING THE PAGES
Take your first signature and with the mountain fold facing you, take your thread through the top hole. Leave a tail. THIS IS IMPORTANT..do not tie a knot in your thread. Bring your needle back up through the second hole, lay your ribbon over and take your thread over the ribbon, down through the third hole and back out of the fourth hole. (8A – 10A).
Take your second signature and place up against the first. Take your thread down into the bottom hole (11A) back up out the next, over the ribbon, down through the hole and back out the top hole. (12A – 13A). Now you will TIE your ONLY knot. Tie your working thread to the tail left in the first step. Use a reef knot (left over right, right over left) as this is the most secure knot. (14A)
Take your third signature and starting in the top hole, stitch as before. When you get to the bottom, you must join it to the second signature using a kettle knot. Take your needle, and slide it under the thread between the first and second signatures (note the direction of the needle) (15A). Take your thread through the loop and pull firmly. (16A).
Attach the fourth and fifth signatures the same way making a kettle knot at the top of the fourth and a double kettle knot at the bottom of the fifth. i.e. do two knots. (17A). Trim the ends of your thread.
Your pages are now complete and should look like (18A).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 308px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimzELYLdMQfWJu74KcvGFNVpBiZzqK2wPFAKTlUZMqoaHv0P1CLkj0KNmO9fbzpNCfkEPIqfBeLWsXAjLToG-rj47fIwrB76CO3ur7ITKQ-yc2_1cVYc-0x9XVdl_yP_JGVV14CdboHjU/s320/Domino-Tut-Steps-8A---18A.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360848672307831906" />

FINISHING THE BOOK
Put double sided tape (or glue) across the front and back outside pages, catching the ribbon down, (19A). Place your dominoes side by side, again making sure you have them the correct way round (this time both brads should be on the outside) and stick your pages centrally on the doms, front and back. (20A)
That’s it. Your book is now complete. To fasten it, bring the fibre around the back, across the front and twist round your brads.
21A and 22A

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 280px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL4eTnLugQj0FvIEq3v8_nkElzt2aS0PNEPMw_1-aOXOMqFTJHfBb2nGqfkCAwkg4Hp7KDS3Bg_yQElNql0XxM8asCbU9AhrCUCRF_TasoH7IOCEyq4MoeB2s528nDCUJIEYaKnfm-d0U/s320/Domino-Tut-Finished-Book.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360848946665545218" />Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17864663688444912873noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4532212328895809175.post-85222697280364189572008-11-09T15:22:00.001+00:002008-11-09T15:23:01.686+00:00TUTORIALSTHIS SITE IS NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION, BUT I WILL BE POSTING TUTE'S OF ALL SORTS OF LOVELY CRAFT THINGS TO MAKE.

KEEP WATCHING.Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17864663688444912873noreply@blogger.com0
